After a stint in the U. S. Army and a short time at 3M Company, Wimpy began his printing career with the local Hastings Gazette newspaper. So, when he opened Kranz Printing in 1959, he already "had printer's ink in his blood", according to wife Rose.

Little did he know when he opened that "mom & pop" shop that one day it would become the print communications provider of choice for local, regional and even national companies. Today, Graphic Design, Inc. employs nearly 50 people serving a client list of over 800.

Still active in the business (mostly running his old-time letterpress), Wimpy continues the tradition of family ownership of Graphic Design, Inc. with son Tom.
